In Module 2, you learned about two digital skills:

Digital Safety: respecting personal digital data and knowing how to ensure safety while participating digitally

Specific topics included:

  • managing cyber risks to your digital privacy and security; and
  • strategies to protect yourself against cyber risks, including virus protection software, virtual private networks (V.P.Ns), and multi-factor authentication (M.F.A.).

Operating Digital Productivity Technology: understanding how different technologies and applications are connected to implement and achieve productivity outcomes

Specific topics included:

  • cloud computing,
  • word processing,
  • digital file management, and
  • digital time management.

In Module 3: Digital Navigation Skills, you will focus on two more of the digital skills you were introduced to in Module 1:

Digital Research: adopting digital tools and technology to effectively conduct research

Learner Specific Digital Skills: assessing and applying transferable digital skills in learning environments

The content in Module 3 will help you effectively and efficiently navigate online resources for learning, research, and professional purposes. You will also learn strategies for navigating your institution’s learning management system (L.M.S.), studying, writing, and test-taking. Let’s get started!

Module 3 Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

  • Navigate and operate various learning management systems for successful engagement and participation.
  • Select and evaluate appropriate digital resources to solve real-world problems.
  • Explore digital note-taking and information organization strategies for effective digital research writing and test-taking.

The second column is labeled “Basic (Practicing)” with a dumbbell weight; there are two stars; the text reads: I can use this skill to perform some tasks in my context. The third column is labeled “Proficient (Digital Literacy)” with a gear; there are three stars; the text reads: I can use this skill to perform most tasks in my context. The fourth column is labeled “Advanced (Digital Fluency)”; there are four stars; the text reads: I can use this skill for complex applications and problem-solving in my context.

Make a note of some personal goals (written or audio) to guide your learning in Module 3.

  • Are there specific skills you hope to learn or practice in this module?
  • Are there skills that you will need as a post-secondary learner?
  • Are there skills you may need in your future workplace?
